As part of its corporate social responsibility, the Nigerian Petroleum
Development Company, a subsidiary of the NNPC, has constructed a borehole
for the Oka-Naurovia Community in Edo state. It also donated an electricity
generating plant, cash, plastic buckets and other corporate gift items to
the community.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony which held in the Oka-Nauirovia
community, Dr. R.O. Ewedemi who represented the Managing Director of the
NPDC, expressed gratitude to the community for its co-operation and
understanding which has brought about a cordial relationship between NPDC
and the community.
He said that though there was bound to be misunderstanding from time to time
in any relationship, what was important was for the parties involved to
engage in constructive dialogue to douse the possibility of such
misunderstanding degenerating into serious conflict.
Dr Ewedemi remarked that the NPDC was not oblivious of its corporate social
responsibility to its host communities and the need for peaceful
co-existence as well as mutual understanding for the benefit of the country.
He appealed to members of the community to ensure that adequate protection
is given to the facilities provided for them by NPDC for their own good.
