Managing Director of Integrated Data Service Limited (IDSL), a subsidiary
of the NNPC, Dr. Joseph Dawha has said that the partnership between IDSL and
WesternGeco in seismic data acquisition is yielding the desired results.
Dr. Dawha, who was represented by IDSL’s Executive Director, Operations, Mr.
Owolabi Omoyiola made the remark at the formal launching of the strategic
alliance between the two companies at a dinner held in Abuja recently.
The alliance, established in 2006, is in line with Federal Government’s
policy of carrying out seismic data acquisition in-country. Mr. Omoyiola
said partnering with oil industry technology developers like WesternGeco in
its projects was a right step in the right direction.
According to him, the alliance has helped in building an extensive
geophysical survey crew and also prioritized periodic and systematic
training of staff designed to build capacity for the future.
WesternGeco Country Manager, Mr. Goke Adeniyi in an interview, said the
alliance would help grow a crop of Geo-Scientists using best technology to
deliver efficient results. “We are totally and sincerely committed to our
alliance with IDSL” he added.
The two companies also used the opportunity to express gratitude to their
clients and customers who had supported them over the years.
Recently, IDSL and WesternGeco showcased their products and services at the
just concluded Annual Conference of the National Association of Petroleum
Explorationist (NAPE) aimed at attracting customers.
IDSL was created in 1988 as a business unit of NNPC to focus on acquiring
and processing seismic data on land, swamp and offshore areas.
WesternGeco, on the other hand, a subsidiary of Schlumberger, is the world’s
leading geophysical company with presence in over 120 countries.
