In consonance with its commitment to guarantee unimpeded supply and distribution of petroleum products across the country, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has reaffirmed its commitment to build more refineries in the country to boost local refining capacity as well as create employment opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths.

Contrary to insinuations created in some quarters that the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke has been unduly interfering in the day-to- day running of the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company, PPMC, (a subsidiary of the NNPC) and the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, it has become clear that such is not possible as both agencies are not administratively within her direct supervision.

Vigilant security personnel attached to the imposing corporate headquarters of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC Towers, Abuja about 8.30pm on Thursday prevented a fire outbreak at the building when they squelched an attempt by a strange fellow to set fire on the tank of the diesel generator which supplies power to the Towers.
