NNPC and MOMAN set to flood the nation with kerosene
NNPC and MOMAN set to flood the nation with kerosene
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) have agreed to flood the nation with Kerosene in a bid to end the lingering shortage of the commodity in the interest of Nigerians.
``I want to re-assure the nation that the principal stakeholders in the downstream sector of the industry have today undertaken to ease the pains of Nigerians in sourcing kerosene, in the next 10 days,’’ the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Engineer Austen Oniwon said today in Abuja after a closed door meeting with MOMAN officials.
According to him, NNPC has 40-days sufficiency of kerosene even in the absence of fresh supply, and massive supply to MOMAN outlets across the country has started from today in a dogged determination to make the product available and affordable nationwide.
He said problems of supply and distribution have been adequately addressed and remarkable change will be achieved in the supply chain in the coming days.
The GMD noted that a similar meeting will be organized with the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) in the next few days to also assure them of uninterrupted supply of kerosene for the consuming public.
Asked why the NNPC affiliates stations never dispense kerosene, the GMD explained that it was deliberate in order to avoid sharp practice and diversion.
Speaking, Secretary of MOMAN, Engineer Obafemi Olaore said given the assurance of large volume supply from the NNPC, his group would ensure distribution to all nooks and crannies of the nation.
``We have the capacity to distribute the product given our spread across the country and assured that the shortage will be a thing of the past,’’ Olaore said. (07/06/11)
